Any of you guys have any experience with Royal Purple synthetic oil? We have a new dealer here, and the product looks pretty good. Just wondering if it is all hype, or is it as good as they say.
Thanks

Hot Rod magazine dyno tested SBC 383 HT crate engine and got significant gains in horsepower and torque with Royal Purple. I believe it was about 6 hp and 8 ft lbs. At the very least it must be slick.

I have used it at my motorcyle shop...and lets just say I don't use it anymore!!!!! !. Without getting into detail....if you end up with problems don't call Royal Purple they won't take the blame. We switched back to our other oil and all our problems went away....hmmmmm . Curious isn't it.

If you want synthetic, use Mobile One. Read the research and you will see that most of the other brands are not a real synthetic. 99% of all extensive unbiased testing has been done on Mobile One.

Not real synthetics? So what you're saying is that they are "artificial synthetics"? ;o)

Synthetics are generally pretty good but $$$
You have to add up the cost of an oil change at around $5.00 per quart. This can get prtyy expensive on a 12 quart system. Do you feel comfortable with their extended miles between services? They do tend to reduce friction - run cooler and slightly increase mileage. But thetendto find bad seals and gaskets quicker also.

Be leery of anything posted on "dieselstop". It is made us mainly of high school dreamers, wanna be truck drivers and those whose talent runs towards 'chipping' their PowerStroke, voiding the warranty, then whinging about how Ford won't repair the damage for free.
Biggest source of misinformation on the net.
