I have a Delco 1100668 4FI 12V alternator and want to convert it to a one wire to replace the 6V gen. I don't think this alt has an internal reg. Can I buy an external regulator without doing any interal wire changes?

If the plastic harness connector plugs in the top, it has an internal regulator. If it plugs in sideways in the back, it uses an external regulator.

You Can buy a one Wire alternator , probably As cheap as You Can Buy The Regulator, The External Regulator Alternators Are a Pain In the butetty.Get A 10 Si 1 Wire & Hook To Battery + Post. You can go thru the Amp Meter Also. No Problem. Hope This helps.
