Posted this on the Ford side a couple days ago and got no answers. I think the question is pretty easy, but maybe the model # is boring and its not a collectible tractor--just a hard working tool for my friend...Here's the previous post--maybe one of you guys can help:

My old tractor buddy (80 years young) Mr. Frank has a 6600 that has rusted out rear axle bolts--the U-bolts that clamp to the rear axle. I'd like to fix this for him before they get too bad. Is this a dealer-only item or can they be purchased aftermarket? I've seen folks make these out of cheap all-thread but I don't like that route as the material strength is pretty poor and the threads weaken the bolt too. Any suggestions or advice?

Just call your local NH dealer. I keep them on hand, I think last ones I got were $11.49 each. IMHO not worth what you would save to get generic or make one.

Take one off even if you break it, take it to a spring installer, they can make any size and strength you need, that's what I did. All the hardware and the China imports I went to were not good enough, I thought it would be expensive but to my surprise it was about the same price.
Good Luck in your Good Deed.

Thanks for the advice--Mr. Frank said someone told him they were real expensive from the dealers--that's why I was looking for a different option. He's a retired equipment mechanic and farmer so he isn't "rolling in the dough". I'll check for a local spring shop and also the dealer to see what they say about price.
