Another oil question!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the "R&O" tractor oil sold at various places is GL-1. Or is it dependent on which manufacturer? It doesn't say on it, and they don't seem to know. I know R&O stands for rust & oxidation inhibitors added. What about AW32? Also, if anyone knows where I can get GL-1 spec gear oil from one of the big chains, I'd appreciate the info. I have the typical places like Autozone, Advanced Auto, dept. stores, etc. around here and can't seem to find one that specifies GL-1. Thanks a lot for any help! Also any advice on how to get the water out of the shared hydraulic, trans, diff. system (MF20 industrial) when replacing the oil is appreciated!

GL1 is a spec for gear oil. R&O is hydraulic oil.

I believe the GL-1 is 90 weight, or 75-90 or 80-90
and the "R and O" hydraulic oil is about 20 weight.

GL1 specifies straight mineral oil ie: no additives! This means R&O oil is not in this catagory. This(GL1) is available in most any API weight. To remove everything from the tractor diff/trans/hyd areas be sure to remove all 3 drain plugs. The oil is free to move about to all 3 areas but each will hold about 2 qts due to the casting flanges. If you don't drain all 3 you are leaving the settlings inside these areas.
