I am thinking about buying a tractor for my dad and I to restore but it is 750 miles away and we do not have trailer to haul it. What would be the best way to get it shipped? Thanks

You may have better luck contacting a local auto repair shop. They should know of people that haul wrecked vehicles and such, who might haul it for you. You may need to supply them with approx dimensions and weights, but it's worth a try. I've been able to get affordable flat rates from them when I'm not hard-nosed about haul dates and times.

I just went thru the same deal. I tried ads on the hauling website off and on for over 6 mths. You get replies, but they are way out there on their pricing or they have an 18 foot trailer and can't haul much. When you think you have someone to haul, they stall you, apparently while they try to scheudle another load going to where your pick up is. After a month or so you just forget about them though. Try local trucking companies. If they go into that area they often need extra cargo.

This sounds like it might be your first long distance tractor purchase. My rule is NEVER buy something you haven't seen and touched and once you make a deal, take it off the seller's property immediately. So as long as you are going there, rent a trailer. Just be sure it's enough trailer for the job and you have a decent tow vehicle.

If you really don't want to trailer it, there are haulers who do this for a living. Some advertise on this site. Or call a local construction/heavy equipment broker and ask who they use as a contract hauler.

You just haven't looked in the right place. I have tried for 6 months to get my hauling ad on this site, to no avail. I don't know what the trouble is. Anyway, I live just outside of Springfield, Mo. and email me or call me what you have and where it is going, and we'll talk. I have a semi tractor with a 33' single drop trailer, ramps, winch, CDL,DOT,IFTA, experience, and references. My phone number is 417-634-3970. Get ahold of me and get your tractor moved. Thanks, Harley
