Okay, here's the deal:

There is a yard sale going on out in these parts on Saturday morning. And you know how yard sales go; every Tom, Dick and Harry and his pet pig& goat is gonna be goin' by here at about 6am Saturday morning.

So says I, I'm gonna go mow down everyhting in sight and make the area all nice and neat for when all the city folks drive by, right? SSure made sense at the time anyway.

You guessed it. Next step is that I had to go out and wash all the dust and grime off the darned tractor!!! Can't stand it dirty!

This "retired old farmer" stuff is starting to get on my nerves a little!!

I liked it better when the darned things sat out in the yard at the farm and who gives a fig how they look. Let the rain wash the goofy things! Hurmgph!!!!

Aw comon', lemmmme whine,

Allan

Know how how you feel, I used to live around a large lake that all the morons from Chicago liked to visit.( try to take over)But it never failed here I am in a 8650 40 ft cultavator and they stop in the middle of a one lane bridge and just look at you.or someone in a 35ft motor home thet meets you and tries to stay in the middle of your land and has the nerve to cuss you outfor being a road hog, but unfold the wings and you show him what a real bully is. You have got it made were your at trade you places.

somehow Allan, I don't believe you have enough to do. The is a beautiful old home just south of here that needs a new owner. Large machinery building with full cement floor. right on the highway too. then you could help me with my parts bussiness, or cattle, or haying. maybe you could even wash my tractor?

Hey!

All kiddin' aside.

The wife and I are turning over every rock we can find trying to locate some decent dirt. Every spare half a day we get, we are running all over creation to look at another farm.

We've decided that we are not going to set around and wait to die; we're gonna find something to 'scratch around on'.

We've been so very fortunate; this time around, I don't have to worry about the hail...Let 'er come, I don't care...I'm covered.

And, the nice part about our business; we can load it up and take it anywhere we want as long as I can get these dishes set up & pointing at the right bird.

But, so far, we've really been aware of the old addage, "The good ones are not for sale".

Any real estate surrounding this place you are talking about? I can fly down there on some Sunday if it's a good 'un.

Heck, then maybe I would have a chance to come to your plow days in the springtime every year.

Allan

Sure looks like you are awfully remotely located to have many sale goers pass your place.... sure you just didn't need something to do?!

No,

They'll be past here alright; ya can take that one to the bank. By the droves.

Two things: A free meal or a yard sale draws people out here like flies to that green stuff.

If they don't come, they might miss a bargin, don't ya know. :>)

Hi Harley,

'Bout 500 miles west north west of Council Bluffs, IA.

Clear in the very northwest corner of the state.

It is here that the world turns flat and then drops straight off, where the jackrabbits pack a lunch and if ya see a good lookin' woman, don't ask, 'cause ya know darned well that she is a tourist.

The cheerleaders out here graze contently in the endzones at the football games; and I'm not talking bovine either. :>)

The slope I live on now, I've approiately named "Poverty Hill". Seems fitting, somehow. :>)

Thanks for the hollar,

Allan

I know what you mean about almost all of that. I"m down here in the "sidehill " country of the Ozarks raising cows and calves and selling used farmall tractors, but I fondly remember some of them "cornfed" Nebraska girls, especially out around Schuyler, Humphrey, Ainsworth, and O"neill. Back in 1970-1974 I drove a freight route semi for CO-OP out of Omaha, Nebr. and got all over your state. Anyway had to give you a shout cause I saw your red money pit and see you on here all the time. Salutations from Pofolks on the Ridge in Missouri, Allen

Gary, I used to run across there on my auto parts rt. when I was going to Freeburg 2 nights a week. My BIL lives southeast of Vitchy, just off of P HWY. He works for the east side of Maries Co. Rd. Dept. He lives where he and my late wife were born, then they were raised just south of there 1/2 mi. I live on the farm I was born on at Ash Grove.
