Have a friend with a Farmall 450 with loader and he blew the govanor and we replaced it. He thinks the new gov isn't letting the tractor run fast enough because the loader doesn't lift up well. I say its becauce his cylinders are weak. All the other cylinders will lift well 3 point and bucket roll just not the lift on the loader. It trys to lift if he gets the RPM up a little but still not as well as it should. What do you guys think is it RPM or the cylinders??
Thanks

Old,

The only way you are going to find the problem is to get a hydraulic pressure gauge and measure the pressure being supplied by the pump. If something is leaking (either pump or cylinders) the gauge will show low pressure.

why don't you check engine rpm and compare to specs? it will reduce the guesswork.

I'd vote for a weak pump, it's showing up on the circut that needs the most oomph.

Cylinders don't get weak, they just leak. Pumps wear out and need higher speeds to work in order to compensate for the internal slippage (oil leaking internally where it shouldn't) in the pump. Valves can also wear and have excess clearances, which could explain why only one circuit is not as it should be.

I can and do agree with most of what you say but I have had cylinders get weak, and still show no signs of leaking. Single acting cylinders are bad about do that and I guess you could say they leak internally.

Double acting... maybe. But single acting? No. Where could the oil go except leaking past a seal to the surroundings. If it is not the supply (pump), oil must be returning to the reservoir, or there is a constriction in the line to the cylinder.
