I found a manual but, now I have other questions. On parts, can I use the double guards or do I have to stick with the single? Do the double come with the ledger plate built right in like the single ones on there now? How about the double point sections, yes, no maybe? How hard do you have to hit the guards to move them closer to the sections? I've been smackin and they ain't movin. Should I heat them up first? Thanks.

I didn"t see a reply to the question regarding adjusting the guards on a 41 M-F mower. Hope someone can answer a perplexing problem. Like the author of the earlier post, I have been hammering away on the guards to try to align the knives with the ledger plates without success. I have tried grinding the guards with no success. Is heating the only answer? If so, where exactly on the guard does one apply the heat? Is there a trick to keep from overbending the guard? Should one heat the knives themselves to bend them?
