(Photo shows "Mr. Frank's Injector School" in session with my son looking on.)

None of you probably knew Mr. Frank Kolb from down here in the Florida panhandle. Mr. Frank, as we called him, passed away this morning after a long struggle with a weak heart. I had the fortune of knowing him a short few years since we moved to Florida from Mississippi. He was a former heavy equipment operator, diesel mechanic and construction man and a Christian who led his life unashamed of his faith in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He also raised a fine family and took care of them until they grew up to have their own families and he would also help anyone else who happened upon him. A week or so ago he was rebuilding a 172 Ford diesel for his son-in-law. Mr. Frank farmed a few acres into his 80’s and always was willing to school anyone who asked in the finer art of tractor or dozer repair. He taught me how to time a diesel and how to rebuild and set injectors to name a couple of lessons---and there were many more. As much time as I spent with Mr. Frank, now that he’s with the Lord, I find myself wishing I had spent more time with him than I did. He was like a father to me and like a grandfather to my 12 year old son and we will always remember his kind words, his soft-spoken demeanor and the fine manner that he treated others.

To those of you who know some of the old timers, spend some time with them and learn from them while you still can. Treat them with respect, as many of their age don’t get much of that from some of the younger generation. Mr. Frank will never be forgotten--he is a tribute to his generation and to our "tractor community"....

Had the chance to meet Kevin and his son when they came to Michigan to pick up an engine. Had the pleasure of their company for a few hours. Looking forward to seeing them again. I know Kevin and his son will miss Mr. Frank very much.
I believe Kevin has some of the same attributes as Mr. Frank. Very nice people! Everett

Kevin, it is amazing how we never realize what we have until it is gone. We get caught up in our own lives and look around at time flying by. I remember the older folks that had an impact on me as I grew up and wish they were still around to share some of their wisdom with me.
I agree with you completely, respect your elders, take care of them and spend a little time with them. It is only because of the hard work and sacrifices of the generations older than us that we have what we have today.
And Kevin take comfort in knowing that the Lord says that one day those of us who put our faith and trust in God, will be reunited together with Him one day.

Tim

It is sad to see folks like him leave this world, but be thankful you had the pleasure of knowing him.... I still have fond memories of departed friends that I learned from.... Those old guys were smarter than I can ever hope to be.

Thanks to all for the kind words and understanding. The visitation is tonight and the funeral will be on Tuesday. Mr. Frank's widow asked me today if I would be a pallbearer.

Kevin take comfort in the fact that your friend Mr Frank will be in good company with my friend who passed on two years ago. This gentleman was a great machinist ,welder, restorer of old iron ,farmer and preacher. In his view he said to me several times,Mr when I get to heaven , if the Lord ain't got a junkyard up there I'll be out of luck.
