I live in the northeast and I am looking for a medium sized tractor (50-60HP) with a front end loader,is there a better time of year to buy a tractor with a loader price wise,,ie.I would buy a boat in the late fall here or a snowmobile in late spring for the best price,,does it work that way with tractors at all,

Thank You

I think it depends on what people do with tractors in your area. If everyone has to have one to push snow with, then there isn't going to be much of a drop in prices after fall tillage is done. If most tractors set all winter then there may be some price drop in late fall and winter.

As far as good weather or bad weather for best deals at auctions... I really don't think there is a predictable pattern there. Most auctions are not going to be scheduled during what is likely to be the very busy times of the year. They will try and have them before those times. The predictable thing about auctions is that the best buys will happen at auctions you do not attend. I think it one of Murphy's laws of nature.

Leland My auction experiences have been just the opposite. A nice bright dry day is bad for an auction cause the farmers and constuction guys are workin. Cold crappy and wet they can't get in the fields or to the job site, may as well go to the auction.

I would not bet the lllfarm on that. A farmer I know went to a sale on a 10* day and bought a 4850 a 7720 combine a 40 ft culivator and a tamdem truck for a whoping 38000.00 .I say bad days are good days. Also this was 15yrs ago.
