Did any tractors use the Continental F163 4 cylinder engine?

I believe the 163 was what Continental called their "industrial" version of the 162. I saw a spec sheet once and the only difference between the 162 and the 163 was some small difference in some bushing or bearing size. Why the difference in displacement (1 cubic inch) I never did figure out unless Continental just used that to distinguish between the two. I have only seen 162's in ag applications (along with 140 and 124 versions of the same block). There was an industrial version of the 140 too, might have been a 138 or something I think.

The F-163 replaced the F-162. The difference is in the thust bearing. Fi63, F227 & F245 engine use a flanged thrust bearing. The older ones did not. Some other differences, head gaskets do not interchange and some can only be bored to 020 oversize.

So that's what it was, I couldn't quite remember. The 140 version was a 135 I think, not a 138 as I thought. I guess the difference in displacement was just to distinguish between the two "close" numbers 162 and 163 but I'm not sure why the 140/135 difference.

The answer is no. The F-162 was used which has the same bore and stroke. Why did you ask?

I may have access to an F163 that was used for a backup pump. It was run on natural gas. It is probably about 50 years old, but in like new condition.

Wasn't that engine used in the Massey Harris 30 and the later Silver King's?
