The original decal has four letters, L, H, D, and B. L is for low charge, H is high charge, D low beam, B high beam. The original generator was set up with a cut-out relay, rather than an automatic voltage regulator, thus the need for the high and low charge settings in the light switch. Under normal use of the tractor, you would select low charge so as to not overcharge the battery, but if the engine has been started and stopped several times without giving the battery a chance to fully recharge, then you would select high charge, which allows the generator to charge at a higher rate. When you select either D or B for the lights, the generator is simultaneously put in the high charge mode.
