I had a pin hole in the side cover on my 42 H, checked my 52 H parts tractor, and it had a hole in the cover that I could put my fist through. No dealer within 75 miles, and I knew they would have to order one, so I cut one out of .050 stainless steel, I clamped the stainless to the old cover and drilled my holes. Put a new gasket on the block, then the stainless, then the old side cover. No more water leak, and no one will ever know the stainless is behind the cover cause I ain't tellin.. Redmud

the original cover had baffles in it to help distibute the incoming water around the cylinders more uniformly but if you are not working it real hard it shouldn't matter.

I don't plan on working it hard, it pulls an 8 foot oneway once a year just for the fun of it. Her job is pulling a brush hog, and most of the time she don't act like she knows it's back there.
