Hey all. Any unbiased input on which is better. John deeres (say a 2210) a new holland ( a TZ24Da) A case IH "Farmall" (DX with the 24 HP enigine). Or a Kubota similar size. Will be doing mostly misc utility work around the farm but once a year will have 1 solid , long day of scooping, moving heavy poop.

Depends a lot on who you ask. Stay away from the bargan "grey market" tractors. The manufactures will not ship parts out of the countries they were sold in. The greys have some odd specifications too. I was pricing the Deere 2000 series , the 4010, 4020 & the econo US built 5005 compact field tractors. The 5105 was very close to the same money as some of the compacts and far, far more capable. Yet it will take all the "small" tractor attachmnets. R-4 turf tires too if need be. There are times when you never have a big enough tractor.

A good dealer network can be very important.Very many choices in size and color these days make sure you get one big enough. All should be able to do what you want.Make sure you get a hydro for all that loader work they can't be beat. Only one manufacture puts the turning brake pedals on the opposite side of the hydro pedals where you can actually use them I have yet to see someone with both feet on the same side of their body !This same brand also has the best setup for quick detaching of the loader. Think about these when you go look at various models. Can you name that manufacturer ? Little details sure but they can make a world of difference.

I have been really pleased with my 81 year model 650 JD compact diesel tractor. Wish I had a vehicle as tough and fuel efficent and as quick to crank with almost no repairs except routine maintenence. Gene Davis

My Ford 1520 4WD diesel with loader that I bought new in 1989 has been my solid right hand since I bought it. Small enough to get in tight and strong enough to do most of what I ask it. They turn up used at the auctions and are worth the asking price.

A KUBOTA WILL PROBABLY GIVE YOU BETTER SERVICE OVER THE LONG HAUL--THEY DON'T HAVE ALL THE PLASTIC BODY PARTS AND ELECTRIC CONTROLLED BELLS & WHISTLES THAT THE OTHERS HAVE THAT CREATE PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD

I have a New Holland 2120. I have had it for 8 years now and I love it. It has had never had any trouble that I didn't cause. The Case-IH is built with the same stuff.

You can check out from more end users over at tractorbynet.com . They specialize in compacts as well as sub & suc models. ;)

It really will come down to the special features that make it comfortable to you, as well as a dealer you like. You have listed the top manufaturers, there is no glaring bad point on any of them. Some folks like a color of paint, some folks either hate or like the position of a lever or pedal. But that is all personal preference.

My thought is, you probably won't go wrong on any of those.

Maybe suc is short for successful.
