I have a 9/8N It has an 8N motor/ front mount distributor a 4 speed transmission, steering, and gauges with a 9N front axel and rear. The engine numbers are 8N the rear is 9N. No one has come up with a designation for it. It works just fine however.

Might be a cross breed also. Lots of 2 Ns with 8n engines.

serial number is to the right of the oil filter. it is stamped into the block. and may be hard to read. but if it starts with 9n its a 9n or 2n. starts with 8n its an 8n. also what roy said.

9-N had a 3 speed transmission, 8-N had a 4 speed transmission..9-N had no draft control lever under the seat, 8-N had draft control lever.. Check engine serial number. That is machine number too.
