One key, visible difference between the TO-30 and the TO-20 is that the -30 has an external oil filter on the right habd side of the engine. The -20 filter is located in the bottom of the oil pan.If the engine data plate is visible, the Continental Z129 engine only went on the TO-30.

if you could post some pictures that would be a big help. Most Fergies I'm famillier with had a tag by the steering wheel. does it have hi-lo range? if it is just a straight 4 speed it's likey a TO20 or 30 the TO30 can be spotted by the aircleaner intake in the dash, a round screen with a domed lid protecting the top half.

I guess it would not be a straight 4 speed. it has i believe to be a fifth gear. the tag behind the steering wheel you can not read the number on it.

What you believe is a fifth gear is most likely the "Start" selector. If original, you would put the shifter there in order to fire it up. Mine was bypassed before I got it and now works with a key.
On the side of the block you should see either Z129 stamped (TO30) or Z120 (TO20).
Maybe if you wet the plate by the steering wheel, you could make out the serial #. Also, if you go to the Ferguson board, there's a lot of very knowledgable folks there.
