In the last couple days Ive read on this site about a stolen tractor and also about services or individuals that make correct number plates for tractors. This is probably not legal but thats not my point.I have always secretly stamped my own last four soc sec # digits into all my stuff. If something of mine that is stolen from me comes up for sale Im hoping to i.d. it and notify state police.Just a suggestion to aid in possible recovery of stolen items.

Probably, it is the number that is assigned to you by the government big boys. It is the number they use to keep track of how much money we are making so they can make sure they get their share of it.

Excellent idea, serial tags can be removed and replaced, stamped numbers can be ground off, but if you can put an identifying mark on it in a way that no one will look for you have a much better chance of recovering it if stolen.
