I know on cars there are 3 websites I know of to find invoice prices on any automobile you want to buy. Is there such a website for tractors ??? Would like to compare Kubota, New Holland, John Deere, etc. price for price against each other.

From the post by PeteNY. How do you know what to base the 16% on ?? If you don't know the invoice price I wouldn't think you could offer 16% more.

Sam, Different dealers pay different prices...each has a different plan in place based upon their volume/profit from past years...so it is hard to track down. Get some quotes and go at it with your local dealer...why would you need to know what invoice is? Remember: the dirty little secret about dealers is that they are in business to make money...if you let you local dealer make a little he will be better able to serve you. A smart, successful dealer will keep the majority of his deals at about 16% profit, he make a little more on some deals to make up for the municipal and real tight deals. A real smart dealer will walk away from a retail deal that doesn't allow him to make near 16%, because much less and he begins to lose $ as he continues to serve you as he should; loaners, discounted trucking, accessory discounts.... The good ones are successful at this, others nEVER learn to do business that way! Pete

Not too difficult to get MSRP on tractors. Invoice prices are a different story. I have never been able to locate one. I typically call 4-5 dealers and get a quote, generally speaking I can tell you what the best price I can get within 200 miles of here is. Most of the dealers that have teh cheaper initial quote will not budge. A little bit of a different buying culture for tractors than automobiles. Most people I know expect a car dealer to try to take advantage of them. Volume is so much lower on tractors at most dealerships than there is with cars the markup has to be higher.

JD posts their list prices.

Michigan State used to post MSRP"s for New Holland and Kubota but they are now almost 3 years outdated.

I have some outdated Kubota MSRP"s on tractors and options...

www.tractorbynet.com is a good place to find out what other people paid for compacts and some NH utilites, not much over 70 hp owners there though.
