Hello,

My fathers 69 CASE 530 was running fine today, until I was attempting to back up..All of a sudden it appears as though the transmission went. Cant put it in forward, reverse, nothing.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I really dont know much about tracktors, so I would definatly appreciate any help, or advise you could give. Attempted to remove the top transmission plate in which the shifter comes though, but it wont fully release. The 4 bolts are removed, but I cannot lift it more then an inch off, something is holding it. I have no idea. Suggestions?

Thank you,

Joe

Try posting on the Case board, you'll probably get a quicker response. I hope you get it figured out!

This may sound stupid, but i"ve done it before on our 430 Diesel. Did you by chance kick the hand clutch into neutral with your foot as you were backing up? This would make it seem that the tranny went out. I did this 2 weeks ago and thought at first that I was going to be in for a new tranny! Felt dumb when I discovered what happened.

I've done that before, but not in this case...I appreciate your suggestion though.
