I've been feeling a little down lately , when looking at where agriculture is going these days.It just seems that I'm so far behind when compared to my neighbours. My boys were at a neighbours sale yesterday where things went really cheap , eg. a working IH self propelled combine was sold for $65. and an Oliver 18 pull type for $2. etc. However, got to thinking last night, that I've seen this change all before in my lifetime. As a kid , I would help my blacksmith Grandfather dismantle old grainbinders that he bought at farm sales for $.25. Little was wasted as he found new uses for much of the material. I'm sure that many farmers, back in those times, were as concerned as I am now with the changes they were facing then. Since then , we've gone through the change to diesel tractors and equipment for 40 hp, to 60 hp., to 100hp, to the present day technology. I'm sure that my father would be amazed at the changes since his death in 1986, but my poor grandfather would be speechless!!
Anyhooooo o , just had to put life's changes into perspective for my own piece of mind. Thanks for listening !!

Know just exactly what you are feeling. Me too. Just this week nepheu bought 130 HP tractor to pull baler and run loader. Never needed more than 40 when I farmed. But then I will never understand 18 to 22 HP 40 inch lawn mowers either. Wasn't the little Ford about 19 horse? and they 2 bottom plowed.

Hi jimont, hang in there, things are gonna change alright but hopefully we will have some say so through our children and the things we intrust them with.
