I am looking at purchase of an Oliver 550 utility tractor for odds and ends work (nothing heavy duty)and have heard of possible issues with being able to obtain spare parts and other issues with the PTO systems on this model tractor?

Is there a significant difference between the Oliver 55 and 550 PTO systems?

Any feedback on this tractor would be appreciated.

Kevin, Owned an oliver 550 diesel with remote hyd. 25 years ago. Pto parts not a problem then and you can probly get them now. For the price of a phone call, you can probably get info from 864 682 3652, and old Oliver dealer. 55 and 550 pto parts probably the same. Have to split tractor to work on pto, unless there is only an adjustment problem. Late model 550s moved the pto lever to right of steering wheel. Big issue with 550 is the drawbar attachment which you have to take off to use 3ph.
It is attached to the tractor with a special L shaped pin. Hope this helps.
