Hello everyone, I’m kind of new here and I have been reading some of the articles on the gas prices, just goes to show how the good ole U.S.A is paid back after helping some of these foreign countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia just to name a couple I’m sure everyone new we would probably get paid back. somehow to bad it’s high gas prices. I don’t want to beat a dead horse but, has anyone ever heard of gengas I seen it on a web site or read it here the other day (don’t remember) anyway was wondering how hard it would be to construct something of this nature seems this website has just about everything you would need to build one just wondering if anyone ever has, can’t never tell the way things go now day’s might need one if it works and my prayers are with all you folks that had relatives in the path of that hurricane. You´re really willing to ran Your car with such a piece of Junk? Did You know how much work it is to get the engine running with this woodgas generators?
Where will You carry Your wood?
My Uncle owned and used a woodgas driven truck after ww.II. My dad often wented with him, when he bought cattle in northern Germany, and they had to take a trailer with them only for the wood. Alternative, if You can´t miss Your car, a lot of US citizens can`t miss it, put a gastank in it for liquid gas like in forklifts or the LPG tractors, much cheaper then gasoline, burns cleaner but engine will loose 10 % of its output.

Or went over to a Diesel. My wife has one and will do 60 mpg and our van will do about 40 mpg.

Home farm in Iowa had a LP gas converted GMC pickup- power from 350inch V8 was about the same as comparable 292 6 cylinder engine. Getting refueled away from farm was problem. Uncle drove school bus in Missouri -1/2 the buses were LP/Propane powered, other 1/2 were diesel. Again the concern was finding LP fuel away from schools tanks- away games for sports teams were run in diesel buses. Currently younger brother runs Ford Escort with German diesel - gets 45-50 MPG but hard starting in winter. I logged 48MPG with a old 1981 VW rabbit diesel. Paperwork and glowplugs for winter start was problem. Technology has existed for gasoline alternatives a long time. Wood fired Gasogens were noted in Denmark as less effecient than Damph(steam) plows and trucks of WW1 era.

A fellow up in Seattle has built a woodgas generator in a Ford Ranger. Looks like a piece of junk, goes 40 mph. He can go about 75 miles on a load of wood. Not too economical.
