Just had to laugh after I thought about it. "Peanut" has been running a little rough so I called Jim in Clymer NY and told him I needed a set of points. Who ever orders parts by just mentioning the tractors name to the parts man?

I remember some years ago when the local farm store also was the IH dealer- farm wife was being quized by the parts man, "Now is it the big red one with the nose that sticks way out, or the one with the cab and white stripes on the hood, or . . ."

Yep,since my regular dealer closed up, I have ben getting my poarts from a local guy who we have delt with for years. He usually has to order them, but he keeps stuff like gaskets, points, those 3077 Autolites for my 14, and a few odds and ends that I might need. I can walk in and tell him som, ething like, "Bobby, give me a tall oil filter for a M."or a set of points for my Cub", he doesnt even have to look in the book. And bearings,he sometimes will have, sometimes have to oreder them, but I have them the next day. the only thiong he is particualr about are engine kits. He also has a machine shop in the back, and wont order a kit until he has the engine tore down and knows for a fact what he needs.I guess thats a good thing, though.

Around here you could have been given aything from cultivator sweeps, plow shares, or contact points. When I was a kid the people called contact points "breaker points"

Ya I know what you mean Howard. I been dealing with the same guy at Bumper to Bumper for over a year now, and he knows my old 1940 M and it's parts, so if I say it's for Puffy, he goes to the International Tractor book. Pretty scary huh, Harley
