I just recieved in the mail 2 carburetor repair kits which I had ordered from a website that we all know very well. These kits were advertised as being of high quality and included everything necessary to do a complete rebuild. Guess what? The kits are NOT complete, and the parts that are included are NOT high quality. I have the option of returning them, but I will not be reimbursed the shipping fees, and I will be charged a 20% re-stocking fee. I feel like I have been taken for a ride big time. Any one want to buy a couple of kits for an M Farmall?

Did you consider contacting the company first, before spouting off hate and discontent for everything YT represents ("except the forums")?

There are no products purposely misrepresented in order to make a sale. Not only is that illegal, it is unethical. We most often use the supplier's description of a product in the item description, unless we find out we need to correct it. If you have received a kit that is incomplete then how about letting YT know? So they can fix the problem? YT is a member of the Better Business Bureau and takes it very seriously.

The restocking fee is very lenient and is there to deter people who purchase items with the intent of using them and returning them. Yes that happens.

It seems to me that the best action would have been to try to resolve it with the company first instead of coming here and slamming them up against the wall with your accusations.

Last but not least, YT is a website that people have put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into for many years. Have you tried any of the links on your left? You'll see there is much more there than the forums and a lot of work has gone into them simply to provide resources to a group of people who are highly regarded.

If you desire to complain about a particular transaction you experienced in the store, it is your right to do so. But don't condemn an entire website, the company and the people who work hard to keep going in the process.

Kim,

I, for one, want you to know that I appreciate the hard work your company does to maintain this board. I have ordered from your store before and have been satisified. I decided to look at the wording at the bottom of the invoice and besides the comments about the shipping and the restocking fee, I found this:

"However, if the error is ours the restocking fee will not apply and shipping charges will gladly be refunded."

It seems this could have been handled a little differently.

Please keep up the good work.

Dwight

Kim, I am very familiar with everything this website represents, and I am very appreciative of it. I purchased the kits from this website because I have also noticed that the company sells rebuilt carburetors, and I assumed that because they know how to rebuild carbs, then surely they must know what a quality rebuild kit consists of, and the kit was advertised as being complete. Upon opening the packages, the first thing I noticed was the absence of the packing for the load adjustment screw. This packing is a very critical part, I cannot do a quality rebuild without it. The wording at the bottom of the invoice is what prompted me to post a message here first. Read it yourself and you will understand.

Good luck finding a load screw packing,I even used Zenith kits on their own carbs. but they don't seem to even know what parts are in them.

Trouble is the ones makeing the parts, packing the parts, selling the parts have never used the parts ! I'll even bet that they are across the pond and speak a different language.

The load screw packing is available from Case-IH. About $4.00 if I remember right.

Been a long time since I had to do a Farmall carb. Have they made more parts available or something ? My dealer never seemed to be able to get anything but aftermarket parts,or maybe they could but just didn't want to ?

My dealer can get anything I need, genuine Case-IH. Some of these items are in stock, others he has to order, not enough demand to keep them in stock.

Rusty, last year I ordered a hydraulic rebuild kit for my mf35 from this site. Two of the four chambers were too small even they all had the same part number. Rather than pack everything up and pay return shipping and then waiting for the new kit (which would probably be wrong also) I bit the bullet and ordered a whole pump from someone not affiliated with YT. Like you, I think the forums are the best part of YT. Regards, Cosmo

If you have it in writing that the kits contain everything to do a complete rebuild, and they sent you incomplete kits, it sounds like it is time to contact the consumer fraud division of the state they do business in and report them. If they were to let you return them and pay for their inaccurate statements, then that is all good, but to charge you the shipping both ways and a 20% restock fee, that is wrong!!!The most complete kit I have seen I get from A&I, the have throttle shaft, choke shaft, main nozzle, needle & seat, choke butterfly, bowl gasket, intake gasket, high speed screw, packing, a couple of other washers, but no shaft bushings or float.

Yep, a complete carb kit for most any of them is just non-existent. You usually have to order needles, bushings, shafts, and floats seperate. Most kits only have gaskets and needle seat kit is all. You might try thecarburetorshop.com but their kits are $$ also.

Tractorvet, I thought I knew these people and could trust them, apparently the only good part of THIS website is the forums we are using.

Rusty - Tractorvet,
I have a similar situation going on right now with a part from a well known and supposedly reputable person. I"m just about ready to jump in my truck and hunt this guy down. If I have to do that, it ain"t gonna be purty...
There"s a wrong and right way to deal with people and I will not tolerate being lied to.

Just seen a commercial in reply to Illinois Boy, 09-28-2005 13:19:24
Don't mean to butt in and change the subject. The commercial flashed by so fast that didn't see all of it, but Friday night is going to be some show on about little towns, and I swear that guy whom said "I'm a redneck" by the mud bath derby looked awful familiar. Swear I've seen that guy before. Know anything about that? Gotta be... a future movie star, I figure. Is how Bronson started out, I think.

Looks like is gonna be a good one. Gonna have to race home to Indiana in time to find it on the TV.

Mark
