hopeing someone knows, the tractor was running fine in 4th high was driving it to a field 2.5 miles away. when I got there I began mowing the field in 3 high and noticed it started to slow down by the time I finished mowing. I had to be in 2 high to leave the field on three and 4 high it would not move what could be the problem.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping.Do you have any free play in the clutch pedal? Might get lucky with a clutch adjustment.

also think about it ! if you run out of power do you shift to a higher gear no you shift down a gear . your clutch is bad

Steady on Marlowe! I would say try it down a fair grade in high high - as long as the brakes are good! If it will go downhill alright, but starts slipping going up the ways, he will agree, the clutch is bad. By then (and probably by now anyways), the clutch will be not only bad but dead!
I"m with you. His clutch is bad.
