I made mine from a 1 1/2 ton 35 Ford. Used a single hose. Plugged right into the Power-Trol on the AR Deere. I put high sides on it and used it for a combine tender before there was such a thing a gravity boxes or grain carts. That was back when I used a JD 45 for custom harvesting.

I was one of those who responded to that post with some details regarding the hydraulic setup. I would caution you about having a valve inside the cab, unless you can shield it somehow- in case of a hydraulic leak, you do not want to be in the spray pattern. It can penetrate the skin and cause major harm to your system. Most tractors have a linkage going to a valve outside of the operator area.

I have a homemade dump. They cut the frame under the cab. The frame was notched just ahead of the box and the two frame sides v'ed together to form the hitch.
Don't have a seprate pump, I just hook into the tractor couplings.

I did this with a 2-yard body off a 1-ton. It's just right for my 2N. I beefed up the dump subframe and welded a front axle to it so the bottom of the bed is just above my knees. I had to mount a gearbox on it to reverse the rotation to run it off the PTO. I hooked a spring to the control valve and use a rope to control it from the tractor seat. About the handiest thing I ever made, great for picking up rocks.

Sure it will work. I built one several years ago and it works quite well. I didn't use a separate pump, the cylinder is operated by the tractor remote. Do be careful when using the trailer, 5 yds of dirt will weigh 10- 15,000 lbs and can cause some control problems going downhill or on slick ground. The loaded trailer can easily weigh more than your tractor and most tractors will have trouble stopping such a load. I use a JD 4240 (110 hp).
