I have a 87 F250 4x4 and the automatic tranny oil cooler steel lines have a couple pin holes in them and are leaking. Can buy premade lines to replace them and where can I buy them or can I replace the steel lines with rubber tubing with appropriate fittings?

I have taken a small piece of rubber fuel line slit it and put hose clamps over leak and some have held for years .but you should be able to find lines in a junk yard also .

Aloha, A cheap fix for a pinhole leak would be a compression fitting (one pinhole is just the beginning). A good fix, would be to get some steel brake (not copper)line from the auto parts of the appropriate size and bend it (tubing bender) to the original. I made some for my 400 TH trans (output and input) and it is just like new.

Mahalo,

Not sure on that model, but Ford probably sells them. Some models, the dealer has a part # for them and when they arrive, you get two 4-6 ft pieces of 5/16 line. You have to bend em.
I`d ask cause you can probably get line from a parts store cheaper if that`s the case.
Hope this helps Brokenwrench

Just buy a 25' roll and buy or borrow a Tube Bender and Double Flaring tool. The one with the buttons for each tube size.

You can get the lines at a Ford dealer and I would use metal replacements. Some auto parts may carry them. There is more pressure in them on some models than you might think, but don't know about yours.
