Hey jimont. How are you holding up? I have thought about you a lot these past couple of days and have included you in my prayers. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. Just know that there are people out here who are pulling for you and thinking about you. My one wish in life is that I go before my wife or any of my kids. Just know that your seperation is only temporary until you will be with her for eternity. Take care my friend.

Hi Bob - So nice of you to ask. I just got home for a little rest between viewings at the funeral home and just had to check in with what was happening on this great site.
Boy it sure was a busy afternoon seeing soooo many people I had not seen in years. It's hard to describe how isolated one feels they've become when looking after an invalid 24/7 for so many years. But it looks as if people have'nt forgotten us afterall by today's turnout and night viewings tend to get even larger crowds.
I'm not crying the blues here, but people really don't know when to visit when a person like Sharon has so many professional and care workers all in a different hours and her condition changes daily. One really can't fault people for not visiting under those circumstances. B.T.W. we still have a Dr. who makes house calls to shutins like Sharon. I'm just so thankfull for this healthcare system we have here in Canada because without it we would have been destitute years ago. You've probably heard the bi*#hing about waiting lines here, but we have NEVER EVER had any problem getting good ,timely service. I know I'm rambling on here, but I'm just so darn tired after writing thankyou letters to the Fire Dept Emergency Response Team and other agencies till midnight last night and composing an euology from 5 a.m. till 8 am this morning. Well , the gang's here to return for the night viewing so I'd better go. Will get back on line after the funeral to-morrow.
Once again, thanks for asking , it is so uplifting to get the responces I've recieved from this site. Jim

I give you all the credit in the world. I could not deal with your situation in the same way. You're keeping your chin up and doing what needs being done. Total strangers can sometimes be the best people to talk with at times like this. So I think I speak for everyone here that you can say whatever you need to. We'll listen.

Thanks for your thoughtfullness Jason. I thought I knew what "tired" was , but I'm so "bushed" after the funeral to-day , that I'm going to take to-night to rest, gather my thoughts and will get back on line to-morrow.

Hang in there, I was wondering how you were doing to. I can't hardly imagine how tough it is to love someone and take care of them for a long time and then lose them. When you mentioned how quiet the house was, that really made me stop and think about how lucky a guy is to have or had a wife and family. My wife has recently found out she has breast cancer so it sure makes a guy stop and think.

Larry - That news had to be quite a shock. Please remember though, that cancer is not the death sentence that it was taken to be just a few short years ago ! If you don't mind , I would pass along two pieces of advice -- firstly, Sharon's motto right from day one was "ONE DAY AT A TIME" and it worked for well over 30 yrs. Secondly , 20 yrs later, after things had deteriorated , I took the attitude that "If the sun doesn't come up to-morrow , then we have a problem , until then , there's nothing that can't be worked out!" You simply have to look at life from a different angle to discover what life REALLY is about.
