I have 6 ft woods mower. It has a large disc under the gear box called a stump jumper. Is this necessary? the one on my nower has been loose for some time now, and I was considering removing it. Any thoughts on this. Stan

I'm thinking that if you can save or repair it, I'd do it. Caught a stump with my L59 belly, and it caught a guard for the center blade just enough to bend it and is knicking the blade. Gonna have to fix that for sure. Saved the blade though or from sending it flying. And caught a stump with the bushog, and tore the back of the deck up pretty good. Is fixable though. Them stumps hidden in tall grass and weeds!!! Anything that you can do to save a bigger headache later... Just a thought.

unless you have very clear and smoth land I would leave it it will keep you from twisting off the main down shaft, or others if you hit a big rock or even a large mound of dirt, or a stump. Jim
