Is there any tractors that use this engine?? Just asking because I have one that did run good when the machine was parked last summer and I don't need the engine. I would prefer to find some one that could use it instead of it sitting and rusting away.
Thanks

Is this a 4-cylinder overhead valve or 6 cylinder flathead ?

6 cylinder flat head, with a mag instead of a distibutor

We can make this real simple. E model Continentals are 4 cylinder overhead valve engines. The numbers do not seam right. However if it a six cylinder L head engine it is an F-227 not an E model. The F-227 replaced the F-226. Some parts interchange some do not. Questions

The E could in fact be an F sort of hard to read, it was cloudy out which also doesnt help tring to read numbers. But yes its a 6 cylinder flat head with a mag on it.

Yep probably a F227 but I knew what you were talking about. The one I had used a Delco dist. on top side. It was pain to get to under hood of compressor too. Had them try to sell me F226 parts once but they wouldn't work at all. I didn't find any Cletracs using them and most all those used Hercules or Buda engines.

Old, I used to have a Cletrac crawler that had a Continental L head 6 cylinder in it. That number sounds familar.

Now that I have read the later replies, I remember that the Cletrac engine was a F226 Continental. It was a flathead. L head and flathead are two different names for the same type of engine.

I've only seen the 227 in industrial equipment like compressors, welders, forklifts, road equipment and the like. It may have been used in some tractors? Oliver 70 used a Continental 201 but later Olivers had their own engine. I had a Joy air compressor with the 6 cyld. 227 gas flat head Continental but sold it last year. What machine is yours in? You might advertise to the industrial / construction equipment folks. Try some of these links I have for Continental parts.

The 227 is the replacement for the F-226. The 227 has a flange type thrust bearing of course the 336 does not. Cylinder heads, cranks and blocks will not interchange other parts will. Questions. It would replace the F-226 used in the AG-6 Cletrac. How many Cletracs have you seen with the Buda?

A blue book I have only listed Cletracs with Buda, Hercules, and Cletrac engines. Check out the list for more at Cletrac site.

Hit the wrong key and did not catch it in time> That should be 226 not 336. Anybody have any M, J or B Continenetal parts?

Right now its sitting in a Galion road roller, I sold the front roller off it to a guy with his own run way for his plane. I'd just like to salvage all I can from it instead of selling it off for scrap. This engine was rebuilt now all that long ago as far as how many hours it has on the rebuild. It even has a tag on the engine telling what was done to it.

I figured it was in something like that. Still see those old rollers around a lot with older engines in them on smaller construction sites. Ask Monte at Monte's Equipment at the link I gave you if he knows if it will fit in place of others in tractors. I bet someone has tried it and knows.
