have a 16 hp single cylinder WISC engine in a old Yazoo mower. mowing this after noon and stoped running lost compresson and slowly wound down, no knock no bang. now can turn it over with no resistance. removed sparkplug and see a valve operating the mag turns and has spark. just wondering what happened , and wether its worth tearing it down. [have too many projects the way it is] thanks

If it is a stuck valve, use Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel AND the oil once you get it running again. Keep in mind Wisconsin is a top of the line engine - parts are expensive, but the engine is just about bullet proof.

You were at work with it when it stoped so it has value to you or you would not have been using it so yes it is worth trying to fix

Remove head and see if exhaust valve stuck open? I've see alot of the Kohler's do the same thing. Remove the valve and clean the stem thoroughly of all deposits
