I just purchased I think a 1965 or 66 John Deere 2020 54hp diesel. Can anyone tell me were I can find the serial number?

I hope it isn't hot and somebody chiseled them off. Should be one on the right side of the engine, another one the frame below. A third plate has been known to show-up on the trnasmission case either near the right axle/brake pedals or above and to the right of the pto shaft.

The correct place for serial number plate for a JD 2020 manufactured for USA is on the RH side of tranns. That is the only place I'm aware as JD didn't start putting serial numbers on RH front frame till later models suchas the 2040.

Thank you very much! No it isn't hot...LOL..I am the third owner. It has numbers stamped all over. I just didn't know which was the serial numbers. I wanted to order me a operators manual and service manual for it.
