I take it that's tinfoil or chicken wire over the rust with bondo trowled over it, and the cheapest single stage enamel sprayed outside?

Just pokin' fun at ya, I did plenty of those backyard jobs before I started welding in real metal and using sealers, block sanding, and base/clear paints.

Cool truck. My dad had one like it when I was young. Good luck with your paint job.

What'dya do, put some glasspacks on it?. I just put dual exhaust 40 series Flowmasters on my 5.0 mustang. Guy at the parts store said they were loud ones, and so did the local mechanic, but I was pretty disappointed with the sound myself, they're just too quiet for me. The 40 series are the loudest of the street mufflers, but they only sound real good at 2,000-2,500rpms, any more or any less, and it goes pretty quiet almost like stock ones, which disapointed me as I thought it would be loud all the way up through the rpm range. If I'd have known what they were going to sound like I would have gone with the 10 series race mufflers or possibly the outlaw series race mufflers. I kinda didn't want glasspacks because at idle you get a "Bhlub bhlub bhlub" sound and I was looking for an excellent quality tuned exhaust that would sound awesome when I stepped on it but 2,000-2,500 rpms is not what I was looking for. I paid through the nose for these Flowmaster 40 series, $80 a piece for them, I cold have put glasspacks on for $30 a piece and I would have been happier with the sound. Live and learn, and I thought I had done my homework though on these mufflers, everyone said they were loud, stopped by the local garage and asked about what he put on another guys car which was super loud, and thats what he told me he put on it, but after he heard them on my car he suddenly remembered that it wasn't what he put on that other car, but by this point they were all installed on the car, and used so I guess they will stay on it for a year or two. Nice yellow truck, did that have a 390 or a 460?.

I would have to beg to differ on there not being a truck louder than yours. A fella in North Liberty has a White stepside jacked up Chevy about the same age as yours or older that I guarantee is louder and has the gonads to prove it. 502 BBC bored, stroked, balanced, and blueprinted. Custom made headers that dump into massive 4", yes 4" dual exhaust. If I remember correctly it dynoed at just over 700 horse without a supercharger, turbo, or juice. For those who used to follow mudracing if the name "Mudshark" rings a bell the guy who built and drove it was the man who built this behemuth. Not a Furd man myself but I love that yellow! Heck, back then they all knew how to build trucks!

Looks good, I have painted several vehicles I know what you had to go through. I painted one of my Indian chiefs that color yellow. I like it. Stan

So how come you didn't paint it yellow? Oh wait, I guess you did. The truck looks good. I never did care for that particular shade of green, but a lot of Fords of that era were painted that color.

You'll never know what color it is after he's done playing in the mud with it. Have fun Tim!

Looks real good.
Good color too.
Now as for the loudness...
There was an 18th Century Dutch philosopher named Spinoza who once wrote that "a man's intelligence is inversely proportional to his tolerance to noise."
I kind of believe him.

Hey Tim, I liked the Oliver and Ford colors the way it was also. I've thought of painting my old truck something to the order of your yellow color. Mine is plain ole white truck.
