Back in the spring I painted my son's 1979 F100 John Deere Yellow. He didn't want to but I insisted(had enough extra to do it)we go with yellow. He is 16 and lots of people come up to me and say they had seen him somewhere. It sticks out but looks good.We put 10x 15 chrome spoke wheels on it and new dual exaust aluminized 12 inch glass packs. The little 302 sounds exellent.I drive an 86 F250 dark blue.I was asked the other day if it was a"highboy" and I wasn't familiar with that term.I did tell him that according to my manual that the serial number says it to be a Heavy Duty,I sure know it rides rough and has enormous sway bar diameter.Wished I had a digital camera Tim I want you to see what son's F100 looks like.

Don"t know if it"s the same "highboy" you"re referring to but in 1977 the F-250 4WD changed production from the old style "highboy" to a smaller profile. I know this because I had a "76 F-250 and my Dad bought a new one late "77. Mine had the transfer case that looked like it was hanging by a wire with a very long front driveshaft. My Dad"s "77 has a much shorter front driveshaft and a slightly sleeker profile. Parked side by side the newer one was about 3 to 4 inches lower. Also had a "83 4wd, F-250 with 33 inch Buckshot Mudders that wasn"t much taller than the "77, it also had the independent type front axle. Yes, they are/were tough trucks!

I bet it looks cool.. does it have a lift? the highboys where called that becouse they had a divorced transfer case and a four inch lift from the factory.. or so thats what I have read..
I also have a 79' F-100. but it is all torn down, it was my grampas so it is getting restored.. it's quite a way's off from being done though.. and the highboys where only made for a few years in the 70's.. and the shade of my truck is transport yellow..

My 86 F250 is stock suspention but has 10x16.5 aluminum wheels with 33 inch Dunlop Mud Rovers which picks ip up a lot.I am gonna have to find me some steps I like(don't like running boards)to put on it,its hard to get into.Jr's F100 is JD yellow with hardner which actually looks ok to have been painted outside.I bought that F100 three years ago for 500.00 and other than the timing chain and gears it has been a good one so far.I used to go mudding in a green 4wd Ford F250 the same color as yours was with a 360 and a manual transmission, tough old truck. We don't pass too many gas stations do we,I know I don't.Jack(TN).

Tim, if you're interested, I've got a '68 F-250 2X4 with a good and solid 360. I'm going to part out the truck if no one wants the whole thing.

Not a very big place Rusty. I bought a hydra-swing at a "junk" sale up there a couple of years ago. Some dealer bankruptcy.

I bought the truck as a donor but the woman I bought it from said it ran good when they quit driving it.It is not locked up and I can check the tranny fluid to see what color it is if you want.I never got to hear it run myself, wished I did. When I took the ac compressor off it still had freon in it.

Bought a Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder, 5-speed stick, 85,000 miles, ran it 4 years. Then bought another Ranger, long bed, 2.3 liter 4 cylinder. $500. 5 speed stick, 171,000 + miles on the clock! Now has 182,000 miles. doesn't burn oil, runs great, probably last me a long time! Mainly local use, mower pickups and deliveries, but have used it for longer trips, too! Nothing beats an old Ford!
