we have 3 dsl pulling tractors all 3 make about 4 or 5 trips down the track on a oil change, we put them to add when we change after 4 or 5 passes it will show 2 quarts over full, the pistons are decompressed, big injecter nozzels, fuel setting on pump over 900 cc, a friend of ours has been taking 5 gal at a time when he fills up his 96 power stroke he dumps it in , so far no problem probly run 25 gal thru it, if this will work why cant i do this with my 5000 ford tractor or my 966 ih, i asked him if he was filtering it hes said no, said the tractor filter would keep out any contaminites and his truck fuel filter has not been changed, what do you guys think ,i think to much of my 01 powerstroke im not gonnatry to tear it up

Since the fuel in on-highway licensed vehicles is subject to sampling and penalties if the red dye is found, it might be better not to add the used crankcase oil to such a vehicle. It would sure mask the red color! But the used oil avoids the road tax just as does the red fuel, so the penalty result is probably the same. Some use ATF as fuel conditioner. I do not use the ATF and do not know if it is good or bad. But it will make the fuel red!

Ive heard the red fuel bit with tranny fluid for years....It would take an awful lot of tranny fluid to turn green diesel red.I run it all the time, even got dipped on more than one occasion, I have yet to get fined for running tranny fluid in diesel.

Well, some will say dont do it, some will say its ok. Im considering trying to filter the crap out of it and see what the results are after filters and Blackstone reports. Im just thinking of a use for 15 guarts of used oil from my 01 Stroke. Have had the nerve to just dump it in.

Caterpillar has or had a program to use old crankcase oil as fuel in their engines. I do not know all the details. Check it out.
