Mornin' Guys,

Seems we are finally getting our belated spring weather, as it's been raining here off and on for some time now.

Plowed all morning in the rain yesterday and actually had to quit because of wheel slip. That's unheard of out here in the desert. :>)

Have another 10 acres to do yet, it's been raining all night and looks like the plowing is on hold for another day anyway.

Nice part about it is that the wife is now helping me search for an old cabbed tractor. :>)

Allan

Allan, Glad it is raining there! Here in Central Texas...31 st day of 100+ weather, area lakes lowest in 8 yrs. Cracks in the ground so wide,... a small child can be lost in, So deep,... they have a red glow in the bottom. Pasture roads are like talcum power. Just walking creates a dust cloud. Panhandle, and Gulf coast are the only folks gettin rain here
Later,
John A.

Yep, Lots of rain here too last 2 weeks and only 68 this morning. Autumn weather early? We went most of summer without much rain at right times either but this will help get the wheat going if we can get this next crop of weeds down first. Sprinkling again today and they say rain all week. My garden planted end of June is going to make it lol. :)

If you find a cabbed tractor that needs air conditioning, I can put you in touch with my mechanical genius friends, who put air in several old combines- used parts from a Jeep Cherokee, I think- "Piece o' cake", they said, and after running one one summer, I can testify that they work.

I know where there is a 1566 that needs a clutch and TA. If you want I can find out what they want for it. The tractor is at Ainsworth Neraska.

Hey!

That might be my baby! Ainsworth isn't that far away and a clutch/TA could be my project fer this winter!

Please check into it for me. Email is open.

Allan

Same here, beautiful isn't it? I've got 200 acres of 3rd in windrows and and 60 acres of 3rd in small bales in the field, but I'm not complaining. Should be about exactly what you want for the wheat seeding. Plus I get a couple days off to work on my project tractor.

Take what rain you can when you can get it!

By "old" cabbed tractor I hope you mean IH 86 series or newer... or (gasp) a JD with sound-guard cab.

We have a 1256 with cab and I wish it was gone. It just makes it noisier and hotter, and it rattles. Had an 806 with cab as well - same deal there. I would rather run without a cab. The only exception is feeding cattle in the winter when the tractor never gets over 1/2 throttle... the heat is nice.

I hear ya. Up here, we couldn't get a rain all summer when the crop needed it. Come harvest and it's raining every few days. Typical. Luckily in this part of the state we had a ton of moisture this spring, the crop needed every bit of it.
