Someone tell me about this machine. Is it 4 cylinders? and how much HP? Does the 3 point hook to most standard implements? Are they good machines or do they have flaws we don"t need to put into our lives. I have a chance to buy a real clean one, one owner, but owner is now dead so off estate. Just wondering, your info appreciated. BW

I went back to the picture I have of the 460, I see no sign that says either "Farmall" or "International" The seller for the estate says the tires are all new, and it can set in the shed a year, go out and just touch the key and it runs. Don"t have clue what to pay for it. It looks like you could make look like new again with a litle work, not beat up.

I used to have a 460 gasser. It was a great machine. I traded it on one that was lower to the ground so my bad knees would get on/off easier. Check the serial number - if it doesn't have a triangle or diamond stamped after it it means that the upgrade on the rear-end has not been done. Other than that, it should be good to go! Mine had a 3point and I could hook up to anything I wanted. Good Luck!

Not much to dislike but hey, they are 45 years old. Don't expect a new one. IH didn't have a real "standard" 3 point at that time so that answer is "maybe probably" depending on what is fitted, conversions made.

Some one should correct me if I'm wrong but it should have a 6 cyl. engine. You say it's an International, not a Farmall, then it might have 3 point, I'm pretty sure the Farmalls came with fasthitch.

Now ya done it...ya made me drag out "the book."

From February 1959 dealer sales information: The Farmall has 47.24 drawbar hp and 51.63 belt hp for the gas version...and "Major features include 2-point Fast-Hitch, Traction-Control, Tel-A-Depth, complete Hydra-Touch hydraulics, Torque Amplifier, power steering, power adjusted wheels, independent power take-off, outstanding comfort and convenience, matched working speeds."

"Average capacity in a ten-hour day is: plow up to 25 acres, middlebust up to 65 acres, disc up to 65 acres, plant up to 90 acres, mow up to 45 acres, combine up to 30 acres, and cultivate up to 100 acres."

The International, known as the 460 Utility, shows 61 gross hp, 51.64 belt, 48.15 drawbar on gas. It was available with either 2-point Fast-Hitch or "Industrial" 3-point.

The engine in the 450 was the C-221 6-cylinder, and Tractor Vet is the guy who's the guru on those engines. Engine is the smaller version of what was put in the 560, 660, 706, and 806 gassers, and not much different than the Silver Diamond and Black Diamond engines [220-240-264] International put in their trucks from 1950-1968.

If the tractor's got a 3-point, it'll work with most standard implements.
