This weekend at the Pickett, WI tractor show I saw some small trucks hauling some pretty big loads. A half-ton Ford, 5th wheel triaxle trailer with an Oliver 77 and a Super C Farmall, a half ton Chevy, 5th wheel tandem, with two Massey Harris 101's, a 3/4 ton Ford, 5th wheel with TWO 555 Massey Harris diesels. I wonder how they handled on the road...?

i pull a goose neck flatbed with a 1/2 ton pickup grossing upwards of 20,000lbs some times and have no problem stopping, you need GOOD trailer brakes is all.

ANY 1/2 ton pick-up grossing 10 plus tons is rolling on borrowed time. I'm sure you know way more than I do, but I hope no one gets killed in the wreck.

You don't just need good brakes and a big enough engine-you NEED more truck.

These 1/2 ton trucks aren't pulling a trailer here on the west coast, but they are from Mexico. They go to Los Angeles and load up with anything they can sell in Mexico. Some of the loads are so high I don't see why the Highway patrol lets them get away with it. When I learn to post pictures I will post one, you wouln't believe it. Stan

My father is a truck driver and his main complaint on the road is that the DOT officers do not WANT to deal with "four wheelers" that pull trailers. For example: I went with him one day and there was a 1/2 ton chev. pulling a trailer with a tractor on it and the chains were not even tight and we had one cab marker light out and we got stopped and received a fix it now ticket. We were following the pick up that had the unsecured load but apparently a burnt out marker light is more important that a loose load that could/and will come off. Sorry just venting a little. Trucking is a sensitive matter in my family. Brad
