My father just purchased a 1987 Ford Tractor 8000
and is trying to figure out where to check the transmision fluid. Please parden my ignorance. Your help will be much appreciated.

Any chance we're talking about a Louisville 8000 highway tractor? If so, then crawl under the old bugger. There should be a plug with probably a 1" square head, most likely on the left hand side of the transmission, likely in the most difficult to access place on the entire truck.

If you're talking farm tractor, the the year is way way off to be an 8000. I think they were into the second generation of TW's by '87..... Showcrop gave you the years. HTH.

The 8000 was built from 1968 to 1973. If your tractor really is an 8000 the trans. dip stick should be at the left rear just under the fuel tank. Hope this helps.
