I"ve got an M Farmal that has the threads in the exhaust manifold stripped out. I"m wanting to know what size pipe tap it will take to recut some threads. My brother in law has an International 20/24 or 24/20 (not sure wich) that needs the exhaust tapped also. Is it the same size tap as the Farmal?

my nephew was able to borrow one

when you start it, takes some downpressure to get it started, you can wedge it with 2x4 but keep the tap as straight as you can as you turn it

You need a 2 inch pipe tap. I got mine from Northern tools, it came as a set of 3, I've never used the other 2. Farmall H and Farmall M are the same size. The pipe that screws into the manifold will be approximately 11 inches long.

We replaced the pipe in our "M" and I remember it was a 2 inch pipe.

Aloha, One way is to measure the od of the pipe that was in there, From that, you can find the proper npt size tap. If you don't have that pipe, then you could measure the id and add a little for the thread and it should come close. See the link.
