Not quite on the subject of your post, but I found it interesting - hope you and others do to. Go to Link This gives the specifications and some pictures of the world's most powerful diesel engine (108,920 HP @ 102 RPM. Just for fun. Bob Farrell

For wheel tractors, don't forget Steiger, now part of the conglomerate that owns your beloved IH!

If you count crawler tractors, the IH TD-24 had 148 drawbar HP. I am pretty sure that the Caterpillar D9 had more, but I am not sure how much.

The TD 24 was 180 engine hp in 1947. It was the most powerful at that time. It took the title from the Allis Chalmers HD 19 that came out earlier that year [163 hp]. The 1955 D9 had 286 hp when it came out. In 1956 it was bumped to 320 hp. It was not the most powerful though. The Euclid [terex] TC 12 that also came out in 1955 had the title of world's largest tractor. It had two GM 6-71's and put out 402 hp and had a 40 ton weight. The largest of all time is a custom built rubber tire dozer for push loading scrapers. It went to work in 1963 and weighed 170 tons and put out 1850 hp. It worked until 1981. The largest crawler you can buy is a Komatsu D 575A2 super dozer at 157 tons and 1150 hp. The largest crawler ever built is a custom built Italian Acco that weighs 183 tons and has two Cat engines totalling 1300 hp. Maybe some day it will be past. Dave

My fastline blue book shows the 660 1959- 1963 gas 82 hp, diesel 80 hp. Earler than that 650 about 55 hp or a little less.
