I think I need one more tractor.

Want a 856 but anything that is anygood around here is priced like it has green paint on it.

Got to thinking a 1066 is about the same price and would handle the loader much better thats on my 1086 to stack bales in the barn so I can see up high and have the 1086 free to spray with in the haying season.

I call Allan to check on one about 2 hrs from him and we both decide its junk before he looks at it.

He says theres one in his hometown for sale.

He goes today, checks it out and calls me and I guess I now own a 1066.

Allans going to have to help with the picture I can't get it off the e-mail.

Gary

I think i want a 1066 now also. You guys are putting too many ideas in my head. I think i seen one for sale about 30 miles from here.

I don't think i will mention wanting one to the little lady till the weather warms up some. My ole dog acts like it's a bit chilly out there.

Gary;
If you still have the notion for a 856...check out the sdauctionsdotcom site. There's a farm auction up here tomorrow with three 856's + 686 + 986 + 1456 + two 806's + 706, etc.

Good Luck with your new tractor.

Theres a guy over in Nebraska looking for a cab for a 966 that is going to take it I think.

Guys, this is better than any ole soap opera that a man could ever watch. The red tractor saga of Gary and Alan.It is better than finding out who shot JR Ewing back years ago. You just don"t ever know what they will do next. Great stuff guys, keep it coming.

This was kind of a different thing for me.

When Gary called and wanted me to do this, I really was a bit "hesitant", just because I have such a good relationship with this dealer. Have had for years and my dad before me going clear back to 1950 or so.

I told Gary not to get his hopes up, 'cause I'm a picky type and have a nasty habit of "pickin' 'em to death". If it is a junker, I'm gonna tell you so. We both agreed that this would be the route we'd take.

Anyway, I spent a good deal of time looking this old tractor over. Old-fashioned curiosity for one thing, but also in this instance, I was responsible for someone else's money.

When I was done and fairly confident that the tractor was sound, I went in the office and asked them if they cared to pay for a long-distance call to the far side of Iowa, because I knew someone who needed that tractor.

Dialed the phone, told Gary about that bad light bulb, handed the receiver to the company man and just sat back and listened while Gary stole th..... ..... ..Whooooo ps!

Sat back and listened while Gary bought his tractor. :>)
