Dennis I like the tractor idea and hopefully he would give it back to me next holiday LOL! So which tractor do I want to give him to get back later.... hmm Im thinking a G unstyled or styled. You know...sounds cheap...but I am a father and grandfather...best ones I got last year was a Sears Hardware and a Tractor Supply gift card. They sure did come in handy.
Course I never told anyone else in the family that...but i think the kids knew when they made a trip or two to the store with me.

Handiest thing I've ever had are those little lights that clip on your cap bill. Get more than one though, the clips break.

My favorite gift to give are small flashlights that are really bright. The new LED lights that are out now are getting brighter all the time.

How about one of those hand-held wind and temperature meters? Maybe a gift certificate to his favorite tractor place? Gift certificate for new pair of boots?

Here is a idea. Where I live there is a company that has pictures taken from aircraft. The pictures go back a lot of years. I am not real sure of the reason for the pictures, I think is has something to do with land development. If you can find a company in your area, that does this. try to find a picture of his farm back in the 50's. Stan

How about one of those digital indoor/outdoor thermometer with the rain gauge. One part is in the house and the other half is outside.

Or, nice pocket knife(favorite brand) good set of gloves, drill bits, wrenches, coveralls, I'm sure you have thought of these.

no contact thermometer in reply to Alex-41JDb, 12-11-2006 20:11:25
Some talk here lately on no contact thermometer. How about one of them? After years with out one I bought a cheap one from HF. Lots of fun, never pull a trailer with out checking the bereings-bearings-wheels, etc.

I like that idea, but take it a step farther and get a model of a tractor he used to farm with a long time ago and one he didn't know you knew he owned if possible. That will show him you cared enough to find the information out on your own.
