I ripped the center out of one on a 7710 Ford a few years back. Spooling up with the disc mower, and boom, center disc rivets ripped out.

More years ago than I want to admit I was at the San Diego drag-strip when a small dragster blew his clutch. In those days we just stood right on the track and as close as we could get to the car that was running. There parts of clutch laying all around me and I watched the flagman who was out front drop to his knees, he was hit right between the eyes with a large chunk.
Boy those were the days.
They finally had to close down that old strip because the fast cars were going of the end and out into the freeway. Walt

Look at it this way, it could have happened on the track with lots of people looking on.

DANG you ot to knowed better than to pull a Ferd with one of those Ugly Green things. Just kidding.
You need to remove everything and look at what other damage you did under there. the flywheel bolt holes are pretty much gone too.

Yeah glad no flying parts hit anything. Hope the bronze fork or other parts didn't break. Pull the clutch brake out and clutch pulley off too to make sure and check for more wear on that and toggles in back side and regrease or replace the pulley bearing.

Now thats quality breakage! Glad your OK.
Here's another sinario when a clutch will disinigrate. If you are in a very low range and push the clutch in and let it roll fast downhill the gear reduction becomes gear multiplication on the clutch. The clutch can see 15000 rpm and explode. This happens a lot on 4X4 trucks when I guy eases over the top of a hill and then pushes in the clutch to let the vehicle run out at the bottom. Be the same effect with the low gears on a tractor so watch that clutch on the down hills.

Years ago my younger brother was racing a '70 Nova at the racetrack in east St.louis area and did a 7000 rpm launch . The flywheel came apart and came up through the firewall and missed his right foot by not even an inch . Then it continued on up through the dash and pushed the rear part of the hood up 10 inchs and stuck there . The piece weighed about three pounds . The rest of it buried itself in other parts of the car and the asphalt track . Obviously the car was trashed and was taken to the junkyard . The motor was destoyed by the overreving after the flywheel came apart . It wasn't fun for him or the track officials . That was before scattershields were made manditory for that class . ...Randy

I'd never heard of that but it makes a lot of sense.
