Guys, I've seen so many questions lately about the proper colors of certain tractors in past years and other questions about what antique tractors had as OEM and as a frequent visitor to tractor shows I get apalled at a row of tractors of the same age and model looking like a rainbow of colors different seats, mufflers and etc. The only ones that seem to be pretty constant is JD green and IH red bought at a dealership not TSC. If there isn't there needs to be a governing body for certain standards of antique tractors like the antique auto assoc. where they monitor things like even the ball diameter of old radio antenaes. I know some people will grumble but it will help those people who are very particular and can command top prices for their tractor and be rewarded for their work. If there is such an assoc it needs to get more involved. My two cents.CT

Well said folks and I didn't take any of the comments as abrasive or otherwise I kinda threw it out there as a polling comment to see how others thought about the matter and apparently as I thought car collectors are a lot different than farm machinary people because they are willing at any time to take it and pull a plow or combine or whatever. A lot of car people only come out on bright sunny days and set by their vehicle with their dust mops and as soon as the clouds come in bail out and I can understand that because it's alot of work getting them to shine. It's kinda nice to go to the tractor shows and see the tractors without milling around the owners wondering if you're going to leave fingerprint on the hood or something. I'm rambling again. As far as me starting a national assoc. If it ain't broke don't fix it.CT

I do not understand what your concern for this is. Some of these were crude made equipment, when they came from the factory, not all them are the same colors. As eveident by the all the differant colors IH used. Then the castings on these are as differant as the person doing this. If you particular about what it looks like, that is your choice and most of the people that are in this hobby are in it for the enjoyment of fixing a non working piece of equipment an then go use it, they are not interested in what it is worth and do not command top prices for their tractors. And the reward to most of us..... it starts, runs, and then we go play with 'em. I am dure their is a place for what you seek, but I do nto really care that much if it is perfect, just functionable.

The % of tractor collectors who are into such trivial and insignificant crap is so small that they are not even worth mentioning. Most of us do it for fun and don't worry about Flambeau Red or Ferguson Grey or the million variations of those two colors, or if the wiring is of the correct color or gauge or insulating material. If you are really concerned about it, then perhaps try to get the ball rolling yourself or with a group that feels as you do. Remember that every organization in the country started with a person or small group of people who felt strongly about something. That should read "felt strongly about something and were willing to put in their time to do something about it instead of expecting someone else to do it". Just my two cents, and I am not being rude or abrasive to your post.
