I just recently got this tractor back, MF1105, from being split apart and noticed this open port in what i am guessing is the clutch housing.

I just can"t imagine that there should be a wide open space for dirt to go directly in there but before I go back and prove that I don"t know what I"m talking about, I wan"t to check here first. I"m thinking that something was left off obviously but am interested in hearing exactly what.

Next post will have a close-up

As always, all help is greatly appreciated.

That is the hole in which you use to check and set the engine timing off of the fly wheel. Sometimes those holes are covered, but no big deal if it isn't. The clutch housing is a dirty place if you've ever worked in one your are just black right up to your armpits.

that hole should have a rubber plug. The hole is where the timing marks are. There on the flywheel
