I have a ford 9n that I have for a few years now. It has always smoked since I have had it. but it is getting worse. it is burning a lot of oil. My dad wants to put some kind of suff in the oil that will stop it from smokeing. What is this stuff, and were do I find it.

If there is a lot of sludge in the engine, change it and use a good diesel oil to clean it inside , sometimes this helps.

What do you expect, it's a ford. Not a ford fan

If overhaul in a can really worked there would be no need for mechanics or replacement parts. The gullible have always been the delight of snake oil salesmen.

If it still has the "tin can" sleeves,an overhaul is an annual event.

Only one thing to do in this situation, overhaul your motor. Lucas Oil Treatment is the best additive out there in my opinion, although Rings and bearings would help more.

though heavy oil will up oil pressure, I'm not convinced it lowers smoke. My car has smoked for 30 years and runs fine. Take a compression check. Maybe it's minor. Remember oil's cheap.

There are many oil additives at auto parts stores. I have used STP myself and gotten good results. Also, depending on the temperature the tractor will operate under, you can use a heavier weight oil. I went to a 60w racing oil in a tractor of mine that has the same problem. In my opinion, a straight weight oil will do better than a multiweight.
