Look at old Cub Cadet 104 for ideas/example. Also check Simplicity 700 series. Suggestion - use a 4 speed transmission with extra low 1st gear instead of 3 speed. Iron case transmission/rear end, strong disc clutch and shaft drive for heavy use would be nice- get maximum benefit from 10hp engine. If useing belt primary consider Comet type drive- like snowmobiles- instead of loose belt and idler pulley. RN

Keep it simple. I have an old Speedex that has served me well. Would be simple to manufacture and can pull a lot for its size. 10 hp seems too small. Why not go up to 16 hp? That's what I have on mine and it can do a lot more than mow grass. It's all in the gears. Belt and chain drive. Can't get much simpler.
