Got a check from a guy for a tractor I have. Well I told him he could come get it after his check cleared the bank. Well his check was rubber but he still is sending me e-mails about the check and tractor. I think its a scam but no sure. His address is in FL and the check is from a bank in PA. Plus it cost me $15 because his checked bounced what would you guy do??
Thanks

passing bad checks is a crime , get him to come and have the sheriff waiting.

Give him options:

1. Bring cash and pay the NSF charge and he gets the tractor.

2. Sell it to someone else.

go to zaba search dot com. type the guys name in there and his state of residence. it should come up with his home address and phone number. if not he may be a shady character. i agree with the other guys, if the check bounced, he needs to bring cash, and make him pay for the service charge, otherwise, he can hit the road. these shysters are really getting annoying. when i buy used equipment, i have cash in hand, and type up 2 copys of a bill of sale, one for the seller, one for me, both of us sign it. no muss no fuss, everybody walks away happy.

I'd agree that you should tell him his check bounced and he should bring cash but also tell him there are other people interested in the tractor. If he wants it he can also pay the $25 NSF charges. No that's not a misprint. Add $10 for your trouble. If it was a simple mistake and he is serious then tell him $15 will cover the bank charges. Dave

There is nothing I can add, so far as how to deal with the "buyer".... but (there is always a "but") talk to the bank or whoever billed the $15 for the returned check. Tell them your story, cry if you have to and try to get some or all of the $15 back. At this point, this is the only profit or loss in the transaction. If you have a check which you think is questionable, tell the bank that, when you go in to cash it. Also tell them they need not credit your account until it clears. This way their money is not at risk and negotiate, what the fee if any will be if it is returned. Much of moving paper checks around is now done electronically, expediently and at lower cost than in the "old" days.

If he mailed the check USPS might have something to say to him.

Make him bring cash and make him pay any service fees incurred in the transaction. He wrote the check if he is legit he will do it , if not tell him to go away

I would tell him his check was no good and if he still wanted the tractor to show up with cash, otherwisebugoff.
