OK, I have the pictures kind of figured out, it has a program built in for that so I don't need the Finepix Veiwer. Had a few pictures on the camers and put them on the computer. I guy at work said he had a printer that should work with Vista, so he is going to bring it and let me try it out. I may get the hang of this yet. Chris

Its main advantage is that it makes money for Micro$oft. third party image

There are a number of supposed advantages regarding anti-piracy measures and improved security, but most people (both consumers and businesses) are quite happy to stick with XP. Basically XP does what they want and they don't want to "upgrade" to something with problems just because M$ tells them to.

Oh, and it has a fancy new graphical interface called "Aero". You need at least 1GB of memory to run it. third party image

I didn't have a choice. I was VERY happy with XP. I liked XP. Lightning must have liked it too, cause it took it out. Maybe I didn't shop long enough, but all the new computers at Bestbuy have Vista on them. I'd rather have XP, but this came with Vista, so I have to live with it. Don't mean I'll like it, just don't have any other choice. Chris

It has some flashier graphics. It has a little more polish and elegance.

But it has a ton more "junk" under the hood. Just booted it up, it takes between 4-6 times as much RAM as Windows XP.

I can't help but think Microsoft HAS to be realizing what a train wreck they're in the middle of. They keep twisting the sales #'s until their broken for PR, but most folks I'm aware of are sticking with XP - even to the point of downgrading new PC's that come with Vista...

It's all that extra "junk" that has me worried. Windows is already as unstable as Charles Manson and those extra features only make the problem worse. I don't need a popup to tell me to clean my desktop. Simplicity is golden. That why I run Linux!
